Comedian, Actor, and Writer, Sonya Vai, was born and raised in New York City but is constantly asked “where are you really from?” by drunk men in bars. Sonya’s subversive brand of comedy - challenging not only gender but ethnic and religious stereotypes - has been featured at comedy clubs as well as independent shows across the country.

Sonya recently participated in the CinderBlock Comedy Festival in Brooklyn, NY. Last year she opened for the 'PBS Socal Presents' film screening of the award winning documentary Meet The Patels. She was also on the 'Comedy's Best Kept Secret' tour in 2016, performing in 25 shows over 23 days across 21 cities from Vegas to NY.

Andrew Della Volpe is a standup comedian from Boston.  Andrew got his start working as an intern at Sacha Baron Cohen's Four by Two Films, and since graduating from Colby College in 2017, he has performed on a nightly basis throughout New England.

In addition to working clubs all over the state, like Laugh Boston, the legendary Nick's Comedy Stop, The Comedy Studio, The Comedy Scene at Patriot Place, and The Woohaha Comedy Club, Andrew has appeared in the Boston Comedy Festival, the Hampton Beach Comedy Festival, and this fall, he made his weekend headlining debut at The Comedy Attic in Worcester.  Andrew co-hosts the popular podcast "Soft Boys" with comedian Will Noonan.

Steve Scarfo is a more than 20 year veteran of the Boston Comedy Scene and was noticed by The Boston Globe at his first performance. He has worked all over New England, including Comedy Connection in Boston and Portland, Nicks Comedy Stop in Boston, Laugh Boston, Comix, North Shore Comedy and Headliners Comedy Clubs, Laugh New England and with Laugh Riots Productions.

Steve also appeared in the A&E real life drama ‘Caesars 24 / 7’, figured prominently in the Red Sox World Series MasterCard commercial, and appears in several movies Including “Fever Pitch” , “The Departed” and “The Fighter”.

Our very own MHMS Upper El teacher, Mark Riley, was born and raised in Boston (yes, he can sort of pronounce his “r’s”) and is one of the most-booked comedians in New England.

Mark fine-tuned his comedic talents in various coliseums and “ice barns” throughout the country when he traveled as a professional ice hockey referee. He was a stellar employee of the NHL for one whole week before he was fired. It was at that moment Mark realized he was better on stage rather than the ice. Mark co-authored the movie script “Penalty Box” based on his life in pro hockey. He is currently publishing his first book and has many television appearances including NESN and Dirty Water TV. And to further impress you, he was a finalist in the 2016 Boston Comedy Festival.
